Look at the thrill and exhiliration on their faces as the "Fierce Five"-- Gabby Douglas, McKayla Maroney, Aly Raisman, Kyla Ross and Jordyn Wieber, cop a gander at their Kellogg's Cornflakes box for the first time. The box, set to hit stores in September will be the first of many endorsement deals for the U.S. gold medalists.
Numerous reports say, Gabby Douglas, the most bankable of the group, who came from very humble beginnings, stands to bankroll in the neighborhood of $1 million-$4 million annually over the next four years.
The Associated Press notes, Douglas is the first African-American to win the all-around title or, for that matter, any of the individual events. That’s bound to have an impact in a sport where elite minority gymnasts have been rare — though not so much anymore.
“There’s not a lot of African-Americans in this sport, so I’m glad to bring it up,” Douglas said. “I want them to think, ‘If Gabby can do it, I can do it, too.’”
What a great role model.
It's safe to say the hard work and dedication paid off for these ladies.
Congratulations to them. They have represented Team USA well and we are all very proud!
