It was a day like any other or so I thought. I had risen early, preparing for work in March 2001. I stepped out of the shower as my hubby was in the mirror washing his face. Survivor Stories: Annie Brinson

It was January 2011 when Annie Brinson, mother of EEW President, Dianna Hobbs, discovered her lump at home. Though she was pretty sure she felt something out of the ordinary, Annie waited for her upcoming mammogram scheduled for March 4.  “I said to myself, I hope this isn’t breast cancer,” says Annie, who admits suspecting that something serious might be going on.

Survivor Stories: LaShawn Brown

 I found out that I had breast cancer at age 37. When I first noticed a hardened knot in my left breast, I thought it was nothing. My sister had had a similar lump, had it checked out and it was just a fibrous cyst, so I assumed it was going to be the same way with me. Besides, there was no history of breast cancer in my family, so I figured I was safe—which is a mistake a lot of people make.
