A Word for You: It’s Been Long Enough...It’s Time to Possess the Land

A bi-weekly inspirational column by LaKeisha Rainey-Collins

During my personal Bible study about a week ago, the Lord led me to Deuteronomy 1:6-8.  It says this:

“The LORD our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount: Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates. Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.”

As I meditated on this passage of scripture and the Lord began to speak to me concerning it, I knew I had to share this message with my EEW sisters who have found themselves stuck in some area of their lives.  There are four words I believe the Lord wants me to tell you:

It’s been long enough.

A Word of Inspiration for the Broken: This Will not be the Death of You

A bi-weekly inspirational column by LaKeisha Rainey-Collins

Lately, I’ve noticed that I’m crossing paths with a lot of women who remind me so much of the broken woman I used to be.  On separate recent occasions, I offered a listening heart to three young ladies experiencing serious turbulence in their lives.  Though their situations are different, their feelings towards the turmoil in their lives are the same.  They are weary, and worn by fighting what seems to be a constant losing battle.  As I conversed with them individually, there was one statement they each made that united them in my heart – “This will be the death of me.”  Here were three women who sincerely love the Lord and whose whole lives are still ahead of them, ready to throw in the towel and give up on life.

But I couldn’t judge them.  I empathized with them, and my heart ached each time I heard or read those words, because I once felt the same way.  I knew exactly how they felt.

The Power of Prayer and Action: Combining Faith & Works to get Results

After reading some of the responses to my last article, I see that there are many who deal with impulsiveness in some area of life - from trying to refrain from shopping for expensive labels, to struggling to overcome dependency upon prescription drugs. I even found out that I am not alone in battling Mr. Sweet Tooth.

The one thing I learned that we all have in common, no matter how small or great we perceive our struggle to be, is the desire to overcome. So how do we do that?

I am an advocate for prayer. I believe in it. I practice it. I recommend it for any and every thing you face in life. However, though I believe there is much power in prayer, and it should be our first response, I also know that faith without works is dead. (James 2:17)
