Gospel singer Jonathan McReynolds blasts ‘ignorant’ Black Lives Matter critic Tomi Lahren

Gospel singer Jonathan McReynolds sounds off on Tomi Lahren’s controversial rhetoric during the conservative political commentator’s interview on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah (Twitter/GETTY/EEW Magazine)Article By Rebecca Johnson // EEW Magazine News

Conservative political commentator Tomi Lahren’s anti Black Lives Matter rhetoric on “The Daily Show” with host Trevor Noah Wednesday angered many, including a gospel singer.

Dove Award-winning recording artist Jonathan McReynolds sounded off on Twitter, labeling the polarizing Trump supporter's perspective “ignorant.”

Lahren, who is host of “Tomi” for TheBlaze, likens Black Lives Matter to the KKK Movement—a position she defended during her Wednesday interview.

“The moment that they started pushing ‘Hands Up, Don’t Shoot,’ which is a false narrative—proven time and time again to be a false narrative—the minute that, that became their slogan, the minute that protesting turned into rioting, I mean looting, and burning, and militant actions, that’s when I lost respect for Black Lives Matter,” said the 24-year-old.

Noah, who masterfully skewered Lahren, pointed out that she was lumping all Black Lives Matters protesters into the same category based on the unsavory actions of a small minority.

“You are the same person who argued on your show that just because Donald Trump has supporters from the KKK doesn’t mean he is in the KKK,” said the South African comedian who took over the late-night post once held by Jon Stewart.

Noah continued, “What if somebody said I felt emboldened by Tomi Lahren so I went out and shot black people? Are you now responsible?”

Lahren, who seemed unable to understand the obvious irony of her comments, wanted to make it clear that, despite being labeled as such, she is not racist.

“So because I criticize a black person or I criticize the Black Lives Matter movement, that doesn’t mean I’m anti-black,” explained the fiery pundit. “It does not mean that I don’t like black people or that I am a racist. It means I’m criticizing a movement.”

Though the passionate Colin Kaepernick denouncer, who condemns the NFL player’s peaceful protest of the national anthem, may not classify herself as a racist, her perspective aligns with the alt-right—a bunch of racists, white supremacists and Neo Nazis.

McReynolds, an associate professor at Columbia College in Chicago, who is flabbergasted by Lahren’s widely supported viewpoint, concluded his tweet saying, “And to know millions subscribe to it...God help us.”
