Christian Seahawks Quarterback Russell Wilson Says ‘Thank You God’ After Tough Superbowl Loss

Super Bowl XLIX at University of Phoenix Stadium on February 1, 2015 in Glendale, Arizona (Credit: GETTY)It was a nail biter right down to the wire. Ultimately the Patriots were victorious over the Seakhawks in Super Bowl XLIX, winning 28-24.

Despite the tough loss, Christian quarterback Russell Wilson remains thankful and confident.

“Thank You God for the opportunity,” he wrote in a post-game message on Twitter. “We'll be back... I will never waiver on who He has called me to be.”

26-year-old Wilson was seconds away from winning a second consecutive Superbowl when he threw an interception on the 1-yeard line.

Now, many are slamming Seahawks coach Pete Carroll and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell for making the controversial decision to throw rather than hand the ball to star running back Marshawn Lynch.

Yet, Wilson is taking full responsibility for the game-losing play.

Winning Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady offers up encouraging words to Seahawks Quarterback Russell Wilson after the big game (GETTY)

“I put the blame on me — I’m the one who threw it,” Wilson said, according to NBC Sports. “It’s something you learn from, it’s something you grow from. I’m proud of our guys about the way that we got down the field there in that situation.”

He added, “We had so many great plays, and we’re right there. We’ll just keep learning and keep growing.”

Even with the positive attitude, he admits that the defeat is a painful one. So where does he find strength to go through this difficult time?

The answers lies in the scripture Wilson tweeted Sunday evening. “I will love You, O LORD, my strength. (Psalms 18:1 NKJV).”
