Share When you carry the anointing, it goes wherever you go.

Grammy-winning gospel singer CeCe Winans proved this with her power-packed performance of “Blessed Assurance” at the Kennedy Center Honors, evoking tears and a standing ovation.

Honoree Cicely Tyson, 90, to whom the tribute was dedicated, wept, leapt and savored the sound of Winans’ voice, backed by Terence Blanchard and the Cicely Tyson Community School of Performing and Fine Arts Choir.

“A beautiful night for a beautiful woman!” wrote Winans, 51, on Facebook.

GETTYDuring her take-‘em-to-church rendition of the traditional hymn, celebrities such as actress Rosie Perez and R&B singer Usher Raymond, were seen openly weeping.

It was that moving.

The two-hour special, which aired Tuesday night, drew 7.5 million viewers and honored Rita Moreno, George Lucas, Seiji Ozawa, Carole King, and Tyson.
