Christian Athlete Tim Tebow Joins ‘Good Morning America’

Credit: GMA Share (EEW MAGAZINE) Mondays just got a huge dose of motivation, at least on ABC’s top-rated morning show, Good Morning America.

Christian athlete Tim Tebow has signed on to report on inspirational stories from across the country as part of the program’s “Motivate Me Monday” series.

“I’m excited about it because it’s part of me and it’s part of my heart,” said Tebow who was applauded by Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos and the rest of the crew as he walked out on set at the top of the 8 a.m. hour.

Looking relaxed and very at home on camera, he continued, “It’s something I’ve done for a long time and now to be able to do it with you and share these amazing stories about kids that have so much courage, and have overcome so many obstacles—and that’s what’s really inspiring—and it’s awesome for me to be able to share these stories.”

Tebow kicked off the new series with a moving story about 10-year-old Deven Jackson, a Pennsylvania boy who had both legs amputated after a bout with meningitis. Despite his limitations, the courageous youngster continues to go after his passion — playing football.

Since the piece aired, a photo that features Tebow and Jackson sitting down on stairs together, thumbing through a photo album, has been shared thousands of times online.

Very outspoken about his faith, Tebow, is also a 27-year-old virgin who advocates following the biblical model of maintaining his virginity until marriage.

He has been consistent about living out his faith and representing Christ, even during times when he beliefs caused controversy.

The first-ever college sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy, Tebow is an accomplished sports figure and well-liked philanthropist who popularized “Tebowing”—kneeling and praying on the field.

In a post-segment chat with Tebow, GMA host Robin Roberts said the one-time NFL star will appear on the program on “most Mondays.”
