Marvin Sapp Goes to Kevin Hart Movie: ‘I Don’t Want You To Judge Me’

By Racheal Everett:: EEW Magazine Entertainment News

Preachers are held to a higher standard. That’s no question, but not all of them stay away from Rated-R movies and entertainment. Last weekend, Pastor Marvin Sapp revealed via social cam that he didn’t want to be “judged” for heading to the movies to see Kevin Hart.

Should he not be allowed to take in a bit of naughty humor without cricticism?

“It’s Friday night and I’m actually in town and have nothing to do. Teenagers, children, they have lives of their own on Friday night so they are hanging with some of their friends,” the single dad said, walking and filming himself. “I was at the house just by myself. I just finished studying for my message on Sunday.”

To decompress and unwind after preparing his sermon, the preacher and multi-platinum-selling recording artist said, “I decided to come out and go to the movies by myself. Somebody wanna know what I’m going to see. I can’t tell you, ‘cause I don’t want you to judge me.”

But then, he quickly overrode himself and disclosed, “I’m going to see Kevin hart. So just pray for me.”

Though Sapp anticipated backlash, should there be any?

“Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain” is a comedy tour film that follows the popular comic around the world, highlighting his adventures, and showcasing a pretty raunchy and profane standup routine from last year’s two sold-out Madison Square Garden concerts, that would definitely make more conservative church folks blush.

Sapp, however, wasn't the only one sucked into the allure of the heavily social-network promoted film. The short-in-stature comedian drew people from across the nation, hoping Hart would, as he often does, crack them up. The HartBeat Productions project, distributed by Lionsgate’s Codeblack, opened to a strong $17.4 million, making it the fourth highest-grossing concert film in history.

Whether or not Kevin Hart is your cup of tea, if you’re a gospel lover, there’s something else you might like to get into.

The “Never Would Have Made It” singer recently announced official plans to release a holiday album on October 22 called “Christmas Card.”

On July 26, via social cam video, while sitting behind a desk in front of a Mac computer listening to unmixed versions of the songs, he took a pause for promo, revealing the street date for the first time.

“Make sure you get it,” he said.

He should have just went with his first mind and kept quiet about it. I don't think there is anything wrong with going to see a movie with Kevin Hart but I don't know if you need to blab about it on social networking sites.

Oh forreal Marvin Sapp? You get down like THAT. Okay didn't know that. But anyway The bible says don't be conformed to the world. Some entertainment I think is not good for us, Kevin Hart being one that falls into that category.

I am a Christian, sold out to Jesus and all that. But I went to see Let Me Explain too and I laughed until I cried. Christian or not, Kevin Hart is funny as heck! I will admit I had a few moments where I felt guilty because he can be very vulgar. So I don't recommend the film if you cannot handle that kind of cursing and disrespect. He was funny though.

There are very few saved people I know that don't go and see r-rated movies and stuff like that so lets not be self righteous. We are human. I think its fine for him to enjoy himself.

Ok i admit it i think kevin hart is funny, however it SHOULD bother my spirit that when i go hes cussing like EVERY other word. Sometimes i have to leave this does not mean Kevin hart isnt gifted however to protect my spirit i must refrain from looking at it. Tho i have slipped and watched the 'cleaner' parts on tv. But i try not too we are held to a higher standard but lying is a sin too. Lol. So im getting it real pray for me. God will give you joy plus kevin b going thro all kinds of problems so its best to steer clear you never know what the consequences will b you might slip up in church we cant let our guard down. Hes wife died and lonilness is a big temptation im a pray a new wife for him or strength.

With all the people who are hurting and need Jesus I just wish more preachers would post things on social networks that would give others life. Kevin Hart is lost. We don't need to be pointing other people toward him you know? IJS

I am not surprised the bible talks about these things happening in the last days that people would be "lovers of themselves" (II Timothy 3:2) meaning satisfying the needs of the flesh (II Timothy 4:3). This is what his flesh cries out for and he is yielding to it unfortunately (Galatians 5:16). The bible also states "You shall know them by their fruits" Matthew 7:16. I am a Christian for over 30 years and have grown to know and love the Lord Jesus Christ the Holy Spirit reside within me I cannot imagine me sitting in a "R" rated show of any kind and exposing the precious Holy Spirit to such vulgar and actually be comfortable with hearing profanity. Personally anyone who has the Holy Spirit resting, ruling and abiding within their temple (body) who is comfortable with this type of entertainment better check who they are serving!! Whenever I get out of his will he checks me quick and I know his voice. (Matt 10: 4-5) We as Christian who serve the true and living God must respect him for who he really is and stop wanting to be and associated with the world and the likes of it. I will pray for Pastor Marvin Sapp because I remember not so long ago there was controversy with Kandi Burruss "when he stated he was ministering to her" well I guess now he is ministering to Kevin Hart too (not so!! the enemy is ministering to him through Kevin Hart). He needs to do some serious soul searching and watch what he allows to get into his spirit, the eyes and ears are gateway for the enemy (I Corinthians 9:27). God Bless!! For all who would criticize this comment read the "Word of God" and apply it to your life. "To God be the Glory"
