Romans 12:15 says "...mourn with those who mourn." If anyone understands what Pastor Donnie McClurkin is going through right now and can do that, it is Erica Campbell of Mary Mary. Both lost their fathers this year.

So when listeners tune into “The Donnie McClurkin Show” Nov. 25-29, they will hear the voice of the WE tv reality star filling in for her grieving friend and radio host who plans to return in December.

“I appreciate this after dad's death..real friendship,” said McClurkin in a Nov. 22 tweet, expressing thankfulness for Campbell’s kindness. Donald McClurkin Sr., 79, died Nov. 13 in his hometown of Chester, S.C., after heart-related complications from surgery.

The late Donald McClurkin, Sr. died at 79 of heart complications"That man was my heart," said the Grammy-winning pastor of Perfecting Faith Church in Freeport, NY in an interview with Newsday. "He was like the Superman Dad."

Growing up, the family remembers McClurkin Sr. holding down three jobs yearly during Christmas season to make certain his children had enough presents, even though the family was in poverty.

He was a strong man—something stand-in hostess, Grammy-winning solo artist Campbell has gone on record as saying of her late father Eddie A. Atkins Jr., who died of cancer June 25. He was 66.

Frances McClurkin passed away Jan. 18 in Bethpage, N.Y., after complications from a massive heart attack she suffered on Jan. 13. She was also 79.

McClurkin’s grief is two-fold and will be a great challenge during this holiday season, his first without either parent.

The media personality's brief time off air will give him the space he needs to begin the gradual and intense grieving process.

Now in its 7th broadcast year, McClurkin’s syndicated radio show, with its unique blend of music, inspiration and practical advice has expanded from a single station, and can now be heard in more than 60 different markets across the country.
