RIGHT OR WRONG? Mary Mary Speaks On Chris Brown & Rihanna Controversy

Three years ago, America was stunned when reports emerged that 19-year-old Chris Brown had brutally assaulted his then 20-year-old girlfriend, pop superstar, Robyn Rihanna Fenty. Now, ahead of the May release of his new album, Fortune, Brown is getting some vocal support from an unlikely source.

Last week, Tina Campbell, one of the stars of WE tv’s reality show “Mary Mary,” told Sister 2 Sister Magazine that the public needs to leave Chris and Rihanna alone.

“Let them people be in love if that’s what they wanna do,” she said in a video while holding her sister Erica’s baby girl, Zaya Monique. “We cannot be directing everybody’s comings and goings. Now they’ve gotta decide, ‘Well, what is this gonna say to the media?’ If they forgave each other, let them forgive each other,” she stated emphatically.

“I don’t think that women should continuously provoke a man and then expect them to not respond to the provoking,” Tina said, prefacing that comment with a disclaimer saying she was not speaking directly in relation to Chris and Rihanna’s incident.

She continued, “And nor do I think that men should take advantage of a woman who is probably gone be a little more frail than you are, and just use that strength to harm them. I think both parties should respect each other. I don’t think hands should go on nobody. And it’s not okay if it’s a man, and it’s not okay if it’s a woman. But if people have gone that route, they have learned from that mistake, they have repented to each other, repented to the world, I think that people deserve to have another chance. Like, once a criminal serves his time, we let them out of jail. They dealt with scrutiny and all this stuff. I feel like, get out of they lives and let them live it how they choose to. Now if they go beating on each other again, I’ma be like, alright now, that’s enough y’all.”

Looks like at least one half of Mary Mary thinks the two deserve a second chance at love.

What are your thoughts? Do you agree? Were those comments irresponsible? Did she seem to be condoning, excusing, or justifying domestic violence? Tell EEW what you think!

I wish they would stick to singing and be quiet.

Great advice for young girls! Go back and to him and see if he'll beat you again. Wow. I just lost all respect for them with this.

Yeah I was just reading about this somewhere else. Not well thought out at all

I was surprised that this was the approach they took. I think they should not have said anything at all before saying something like that.

This is what is wrong with the world today. We don't think before we speak. Here you have two young kids involved in a volatile relationship that leads to a serious domestic abuse situation. The young girl gets out of it and a woman in her thirties who ought know better says they should be together? I would think this was a lie if I had not seen the video with my own eyes. I feel sick!

Shame on Tina Campbell

actually biblically it says ....thou shalt not go with an angry man...., so i understand the sentiment about forgiveness, thats honorable and there will be times in MARRIAGE you will have to forgive HOWEVER they are not MARRIED TODAY while it says you shouldnt judge people..what about character ladies! seriously GOD is the one who makes the decision whether or not someone is ready to be in a relationship you either listen to Him or not. I think everyone in this situation needs counsel b/c i would not tell my daughter to deal with a man who beat her up, and i wouldnt tell other girls to do that, I love that they embrace people where they are but he and she gotta do better sorry. Seriously if someone ends up Dead that would not be good advice. TODAY they are not married. thanks.

I think she should have kept it professional and said...NO COMMENT on the situation between Chris Brown and Rhianna.

and newsflash, a MAN does what He wants to do, if Chris Brown didnt think it was ok he wouldnt have done it. If he's not held accountable he will never learn and SOMETIMES that means LOSING something important to you. But GOD will decide when and IF its acceptable.
Would he go to his producer and then go off on him in the car, no WHY b/c he would LOSE money and a record deal, people do what they want. now unless he's insane, i doubt he lacks self control otherwise it would not have come out. God has a way of making provision for our faults. its because she did not let him know what was or NOT acceptable, he wouldnt be able to try that mess with anyone he knew would not put up with it.

LOOOOOOL..how did this even come up in an interview??? so odd!!! anyway...whatever....!!!!! I guess that's why opinions are..(according to the dictionary) "A view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge".

But hey, in the Word it says God will be the final judge...and He is thee ONLY judge....otherwise, we pray for those who do not live according to His Will for they don't understand.......

*next*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
