BABY BUZZ: Single Mom Le'Andria Johnson to Welcome Baby #4 in September

After months of speculation surrounding her growing mid-section, Grammy Award-winning recording artist Le’Andria Johnson confirmed in an official statement that she is indeed pregnant. As a high profile gospel star, the twice-divorced single mother of three has understandably caused quite a stir within the Christian community.

Johnson said:

In recent weeks, there have been numerous published reports stating that I am pregnant. I would like to take this time to confirm that I am pregnant and due in September. I have been feeling well and maintaining a healthy appetite. I have been busy traveling around the country with my music ministry.

One can only imagine that as a mother and mother-to-be, my plate is quite full—taking the kids to school, doing homework, cooking—regular mother duties. I have been blessed to have the love and support of my church, family, friends, label, management, and fans. I have received so many beautiful and thoughtful notes and prayers from people all over the country.

I ask that you continue to pray for me and my family. I cannot do this alone. I will continue to pray for God’s guidance and protection over my life. I love you all very much and I will be in touch soon.

Last October, in an interview with the Associated Press, the celebrated vocalist admitted to struggling with desiring fame, but not wanting to live a lifestyle of holiness after winning BET's Sunday Best. Associated Press contributor, Johnathan Landrum Jr. wrote, "She earned a recording contract after her victory, performed on the network's 'Celebration of Gospel' and was on her way to gospel stardom, but Johnson still didn't want to swear off worldly habits such as going out to the nightclub, drinking alcohol or smoking. At one point, she felt like she couldn't live up to the standards expected for an inspirational singer."

Johnson had this to say about it: "I didn't want to be disrespectful to God. I wanted to cool out for the moment and do me, go out or do anything." So the singer, who was actively traveling and accepting ministry engagements, was also partying it up and rebelling for a season. Evenutally, she said, she had to stop. "No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't do it. Going out to the club — I couldn't. Drinking — I just couldn't do it."

Johnson, who has been tossing around the notion of launching her own reality show, told one of her supporters on Twitter, "Ppl think just cuz ur saved u live a fairytale life wit no mistakes or a sense of being human. We're human too! Show em!"

She has gone on record saying, "When you see that mic in my hand, I'm giving you what happened to me last week or last month. Good or bad, I'm giving you my story. My music is my reality show."

And right now, that reality includes trying to manage a public career with a private life that is somewhat in disarray.

I like Fantasia, I mean Le'Andria. That's just who she reminds me of. She is so gifted but she is her own worst enemy. I see a pattern with her and her choices and I pray she will really get it together.

Her talent is amazing but she needs to have a lifestyle to back that up. I feel like she doesn't want to fully embrace her role as a follower of Jesus Christ FIRST and a performer SECOND.

Wow! I will be praying for her.

I hope she is planning to sit down until she delivers that baby.

I think we need to pray for Le'Andria! She made a mistake but God forgives. Her talent is a blessing to so many people and she can be an example of how God can still use you if you are imperfect. She is not a perfect vessel but NONE of us are!! I'm praying for a safe and healthy delivery.

Today's generation wants fame without any faithfulness to God. I know we all make mistakes, but this girl has consistently been on the wrong side of things when it comes to walking out your faith. While God is merciful and forgiving, we can't gloss over sin and pretend it's ok

I completely agree with Sharian and Kierren! I actually said the same thing to a co-worker the other day, she's the Fantasia of gospel music. SMH!!

Yes indeed, she is a blessing to body of Christ, BUT, when is that gonna be enough for her. She has to want to live completely for Him, not man. No matter how much squalling and singing she does. She is making a mockery of everything she's supposed to represent or sings about.

On this past season of Sunday Best, she already talked about having a drinking problem. SMH!!!

Yes, we all have fallen, but she needs to sit down and evaluate or decide on whether she wants to represent God. She is in the spotlight, so she has to remember God took her up and can take her down just as fast.

April 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterI don't understand

@I don't understand You said that so well. She needs to really do some soul-searching and self-evaluation. At some point, she has to CHOOSE.

April 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKierren

What's up with her statement that includes NO APOLOGY. She didn't as much as say I sinned against God and I repent. That is NOT COOL. She needs to be humble and admit her wrong. I'm done with this chick.

James 5:6 says "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." I agree that confession is a necessary part of it. Acknowledging that you are pregnant and confessing that you have sinned are two different things.

None of us has any hell or heaven to put LeAndria in. Her walk with God is between her and God. She doesn't owe us anything. But she does owe God everything. Having said that this does worries me. She is not doing what is right by God. He gave her this platform and blessed her after she lost everything and this is how she repays him. I think this is unacceptable .

I might be the only person on the planet not surprised by this. For a lot of artist the music business is just that, a business. They make their money, relish the fame, and live any old kind of way off the stage. It's sickening but it happens every day so I am not surprised. Le'Andria has been doing dirt for a minute.

Only God knows the heart and the circumstances around this issue. Let's pray for her and not rush to judgment. It is an unfortunate situation. I'm not saying that it's not. But she still needs our prayers and love instead of us throwing her under the bus.

Who are we to judge? What if somebody put our lives on display?

April 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterCora

My only response is John 8:7 "When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."

April 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterNaeema

Ms. LeAndria needs to have several seats. Traveling and singing about Jesus an living like the devil... That ain't hot! No! #InMyTamarBraxtonVoice

She needs love not judgment right now

April 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterOlivia

Wow...The religious are going to chop her up and eat her up like Cannibals. May God have mercy on her!
