FATHER'S DAY BUZZ: The President & Daughters Enjoy a Sweet Treat

Dads everywhere spent time with their children yesterday for Father's Day. And, even though he's the most powerful and one of the busiest men in America, President Barack Obama was no exception. He spent time enjoying ice cream with Sasha and Malia at a local parlor.

President Barack Obama and his daughter Sasha Obama exit the Thomas Sweet Ice Cream shop in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, on Father's Day, Sunday, June 19, 2011.

The girls were able to take a nice Sunday afternoon drive to the Thomas Sweet cafe, about 20 blocks from the White House with their dad. The store's menu includes ice cream, frozen yogurt and homemade fudge. Afterward, a crowd of spectators and photogs gathered around to get a glimpse of the famous family.

After enjoying some semi alone time with dad, the girls are headed off on a week-long trip to Africa with mom, Michelle Obama, grandma, Marian Robinson, and cousins Leslie and Avery. According to The Associated Press, the trip is intended to improve relations between the U.S. and Africa and promote youth engagement, education, health and wellness.
