MAGAZINE BUZZ: Jeremiah Wright & Jamal Bryant Team Up for New Issue

Echoes of Empowerment, a magazine founded by Pastor Jamal Harrison Bryant, is set to debut a new issue featuring President Barack Obama's former pastor, Jeremiah Wright. Bryant, who just made an appearance on TBN with Pastor Benny Hinn, is well known for aligning with controversial figures in ministry and mainstream circles.

Last year, Bryant made guest appearances on Ultimate Merger, the reality show of self-proclaimed bad girl turned ordained minister, Omarosa. In 2008, he hosted a widely condemned bible study for the men of his church entitled, How To Love a Black Man, side-by-side with New York Times Best Selling erotica fiction author, Zane.

His decision to team up with a lewd sex novelist to teach Christian men about love, had saved folks reeling and asking, "What in the world is he thinking?!"

This time around, however, Reverend Jeremiah Wright Jr. is not considered so controversial any more. The pastor emeritus of Chicago’s Trinity United Church of Christ whose sermons were used to vilify the spiritual advisor to then-candidate Barack Obama in the 2008 election, is a very popular and well-loved preacher.  Just this past Sunday, Wright delivered a enthusiastically received sermon at Shorter Community African Methodist Episcopal Church in Denver.

According to the Denver Post, Wright’s trademark energetic sermon drew gasps, laughter and shrieks from the crowd as he preached about King David's sexual improprieties.

David was anointed by God to be king, but he messed up. The higher the levels, the greater the devils. David's words have blessed millions of people, but David still messed up," Wright taught.

If you're not familiar with the new publication, you can view the current Spring 2011 issue of Echoes of Empowerment Magazine here.
