MOVIE BUZZ: Should TD Jakes Be Producing a Remake of 70's Classic Film, 'Sparkle?'

Why would Bishop TD Jakes, or any preacher who ought be using their gifts to edify Christ, want to remake the classic movie, Sparkle? In case you're not familiar, the original Motown era film is about a musical family that comes out of the church, performs in clubs and juke joints, and finally makes it onto the big stage, ultimately packing out shows at the Fox Theatre. The songs certainly aren't Gospel and the careers of the stars are not in any way geared toward edifying Christ or His redemptive message.

So why is Bishop TD Jakes one of the producers of this film?
