WATCH: DaSouth.com Founder Reaching a Hip Hop Influenced Generation with the Gospel

NO PRIVACY: National Enquirer Publishes Open Casket Photo of Whitney Houston

Nothing is sacred these days. News has hit that the National Enquirer has sunk to a new low (if you can imagine that). The publishers somehow got their hands on an open casket photo of Whitney Houston and splashed it across their front page. EEW Magazine editors will not put the photo here out of respect to the family. But lots of individuals are up in arms, and rightfully so.

On Again...Off Again...ON AGAIN! Vanessa Long Dismisses Divorce

The “irretrievably broken” marriage between Eddie and Vanessa Long is apparently not over yet. According to official DeKalb County court filings, Vanessa Long has called off plans to divorce Bishop Eddie Long. It is well known that the high profile Atlanta pastor has been accused of homosexual coercion of former male members of his New Birth congregation. But Mrs. Long is not ready to walk away, although the state of the couple’s relationship is unclear.

Pastor Kim Burrell made her media rounds in the days following the loss of her close friend, Whitney Houston. She revealed many things about the iconic singer and gave details about the mood of family members when the news of Houston's death first hit. According to Burrell in an exclusive with EXTRA, Houston loved gospel music, and was listening to Pastor John P. Kee on the final voice message she left for Burrell.

His emotional musical tribute to Whitney Houston at her New Hope Baptist Church funeral Saturday left nearly everyone weeping. BeBe Winans was clearly touched and hurt by Houston’s passing. In  an interview with CNN’s Piers Morgan, he talks about how the singer’s death was no one’s fault and shares a story that illustrates just how close BeBe and CeCe Winans were to Whitney Houston. “Whitney made a pact… she told me and CeCe that I’m not gonna do anything unless you’re there. Get married, or whatever, [I won’t take any] important steps.”

It was much-hyped, but nothing was quite good enough to pull out a sufficient audience to support the Broadway play, Stick Fly—not even support from one of the world’s most popular preachers, T.D. Jakes. Bishop Jakes, wife Serita Jakes, and daughter Sarah Henson stopped through Friday night to see the play about a well-to-do contemporary African-American family that clashes while spending time together at Martha’s Vineyard.

Recording artist Fantasia Barrino made a tearful speech about Whitney Houston’s untimely passing during a Valentine’s Day concert in Chicago. “I can’t believe that she is gone,” said the emotional singer who pleaded with the public to stop tearing down artists, but instead, to pray for them. “Please, I beg of you. Before you talk, go on your knees,” she cried, “so that we won’t lose anymore greats. Whitney Houston, I loved her. She touched me in a special way.”

Whitney's Former Publicist Says 'I Think she Would have been Happier Singing in a Church'

Pop icon Whitney Houston got her start singing in the gospel choir at New Jersey's New Hope Baptist church. When she was alive, she often spoke fondly of the memories of belting out those extraordinary notes in the sanctuary. But after crossing over into mainstream success, she lost touch with her roots. Former publicist, Lois Smith told the Daily Beast, “I think she would have been happier singing in the church.”
