Moral Failures of Leaders Hurting the Black Christian Church?

A controversial article via TheLoop21.com asserts that alleged moral failures of leaders like Bishop Eddie Long are hurting the black Christian church EEW BUZZ has learned. According to Brett Johnson, writer of the article:

One only has to look at the headlines to see why the black Christian church is no longer the default place of worship for some. A series of recent scandals involving well-known ministers such as Bishop Eddie Long (homosexual sex abuse claims), Bishop Hezekiah Walker (rumors of infidelity) and mega-church pastor Creflo Dollar (alleged failure to release financial documents) has left some looking for other paths of spiritual enlightenment.

Are You a Victim of Christian Catch Phrases?

For those of us who grew up in and around the black church all our lives, we know the catch phrases and need no explanation. But could we be isolating those who don't know "Christian speak" with all our rhetoric? An interesting article on CNN's religion blog (though EEW BUZZ editors don't agree with all its contents) accuses many Christians (not just African American) of being "pious parrots," meaning "they constantly repeat Christian phrases that they don’t understand or distort." Could you be guilty? More after the jump...

TV BUZZ: Sherri Shepherd Drops Ball in Biblical Debate, Again (Video)

"It's too restrictive," Whoopi Goldberg said of the Bible on a recent taping of ABC's The View while co-hosts discussed gay marriage. When Goldberg began pointing out the things the Bible condemns aside from gay marriage that, according to her, "shouldn't be taken literally," outspoken Christian, Sherri Shepherd, missed the opportunity to steer the conversation in the right direction.
