EEW, Inc. founder Dianna Hobbs assisting families impacted by chronic illness

Article By Amy Bertinelli // Empowering Everyday Women Ministries // Philanthropy

Families struggling to make ends meet due to the taxing demands placed on them by chronic illness are getting a extra little boost from a charitable ministry leader

Share Award-winning Christian media specialist Dianna Hobbs understands firsthand the toll chronic illness takes on a person physically, mentally, emotionally and financially.

The Empowering Everyday Women Ministries, Inc. founder, who has regained her health after battling autoimmune diseases, has launched a special program to assist families adversely impacted by sickness.

EEW, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has officially rolled out the “Be The Answer” Micro Grants Program which donates $100 to $500 to families. It is designed to provide short-term relief by mitigating the negative impact of job loss, inability to cover cost of prescription medicine, and lack of funds to pay medical bills as a result of a protracted period of illness either to the woman or an immediate family member.

"I know small dollar amounts won't help every issue," says Hobbs. "But if a simple act of kindness can help a family make it another day and know that they are loved, thought of, and cared about, then we will have made an impact."

Before God healed the big-hearted philanthropist of Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia in March of this year, her life was thrown into a tailspin by sickness. According to the wife and mother of four, her vast support network was a great blessing to her during that time.

“When the faith community found out I was sick, they were incredible to me and my family,” Hobbs says. “Donations, gifts, cards, flowers and amazing support poured in from around the world. All the love was overwhelming and really helped us through a difficult season.”

Though the Buffalo, NY-based women’s ministry leader is grateful for the thoughtfulness and warm-heartedness of others, she knows not everyone has such a broad platform or large support system. That's why, she says, she is hoping to “be the answer” to others' prayers by offering help in some tangible, albeit small, way.

The executive ministry team is overseeing the program based on James 2:15-17, which encourages Christians to do more than offer lip service to those in need.

That scripture says, “Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, ‘Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well’—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.

Currently, Hobbs is self-funding the Micro Grants program and is accepting donations from supporters to be “a greater blessing to those in need.”
