Hit rock bottom? These verses will greatly encourage you

Article By Empowering Everyday Women Ministries // Spiritual

Share Are you going through something so tough that it almost feels like nothing can get worse from here, because you have already hit rock bottom?

Don’t fret! There are words in Scripture to remind you that you are not alone and that every day, the Lord is watching over you, and strengthening you—even when you feel your weakest.

Some of the most soothing reminders are found in Lamentations 3:21-24 ESV. Let’s examine these verses together. As you read, you will draw encouragement from them.

Lamentations 3:21-22- “But this I call to mind and therefore I have hope; the steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end.” When it feels as though God has left you to drown in the storm you face, remember these words: His steadfast love never stops, nor do His mercies come to an end. God’s mercies are His compassions.

He considers your pain, relates to it through Christ Jesus, and carries you when He knows you lack the strength to carry yourself. The Bible reminds us in Hebrews 4:15 that we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses. In 1 Peter 5:7 we are told that we have a high priest who genuinely cares about us. So cast every one of your cares upon Him.

Lamentations 3:23- “They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” The Lord’s mercies are renewed every morning; we are never without His tender love and care, because He is ever faithful. When you wake up in the morning, it is not to prolong your suffering! Rather, it is a sign that God is not through with you yet. He has great things in store, which you will see only if you let Him bring you through.

You may be hard pressed on every side, but you will not be crushed (2 Corinthians 4:8). For although Satan has asked to sift you as wheat, Jesus has already interceded for you, that your faith should not fail (Luke 22:31-32).

Lamentations 3:24- “‘The Lord is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘therefore I will hope in him’.” The Lord is your portion, your reward and your inheritance, in this life and the next. He is all you need: a healer, a provider, a refuge, a comforter, a father, a friend, a savior—so place all your hope in the Lord.

Trust Him not only to bring you out of this difficult season, but to strengthen you in it as He brings you through it. Depend on His grace to get you through the day, glory in His love that never leaves, and rest in the refuge of His wings (Psalm 91:4).

You haven’t hit rock bottom; when you belong to God, you can only fall so far before He swoops you up on eagles’ wings, and supports you with the strength of His own hand (Isaiah 40:10). Don’t lament, have faith.
