Share Lakewood associate pastor, John Gray, who resides in River Oaks—a residential community in the center of Houston, Texas—is praying for his city currently being devastated by Storm Harvey.

The preacher has taken to social media to offer up prayers for those impacted by the floods that have, so far, killed six, left thousands homeless, and trapped 7 million people in a federally designated disaster area.

“Praying for the city of Houston and praying again for families who have been affected by what’s happening right now,” said the I Am Number 8 author in an Instagram video. “God I’m asking that you protect, heal, save lives; that you will send rescuers; that you will speak to the water, have it recede.”

"The Book of John Gray" star, whose docu-series airs on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Network, moved to Houston to join Joel Osteen’s Lakewood four years ago with his wife, Aventer, son John Gray IV and daughter Theory Aspyn-Sky.

He has fallen in love with America’s fourth-largest city and the people in it, and is praying fervently and earnestly for divine favor in the midst of these trying circumstances. Every single prayer is needed.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott today announced he has activated the entire Texas National Guard in response to Hurricane Harvey, bringing the total number of deployed guardsman to roughly 12,000, according to a CNN report.

“Praying that people will have a heart for other people, because sometimes the greatest miracle is in our own hands,” interceded Gray, adding, “Whatever we can do, help us to do. I’m praying for safety for my city. I’m praying for protection, favor. I’m praying for miracles. Turn it around. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

I won't stop praying. #Houston #MyCity #MyHome #MyFamily #OurHome @grayceeme
