But to do that, we must be exceptional at what we do. This does not necessarily mean we must try to be better than others who share in our craft; it simply means putting your best foot forward.
Because when you put your all into what God has given you to work with, it pleases Him and draws others.
In the Bible, Daniel distinguished himself from his peers and won favor from King Nebuchadnezzar by operating with an "excellent spirit," according to Daniel 6:3.
If you are ready to do the same for the glory of the Lord, here are 6 scriptures to help you do that.
Colossians 3:23 (ESV)- “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” Know that whatever you do in life should be done for the Lord, that His purpose might prevail. When you work in excellence, people will not only wonder who gave you your gift, but for what purpose you use your talents. Some use their gifts for money and others for fame; we use our gifts for the advancement of the Kingdom of God.
Matthew 5:16 (KJV)- “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Let the Light that lives within in you shine through your work. When you do it well enough, people will see the hand of God on you and your work. People’s interest in your abilities will allow you an opportunity to direct their praise to the One who truly deserves the credit for what you are able to accomplish.
John 15:8 (NIV)- “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.” Let your life be an outward display of the righteousness that lives within! When you are productive and put forth your best efforts for the glory of God, then you are fulfilling your Christian duties.
Romans 12:11 (NIV)- “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.” Realize that every time you use your gifts for God, you are bringing Him glory. Your talent is a means with which to praise our heavenly Father, so bring your A-game! Work enthusiastically at what you do, because one of your greatest acts of worship is doing what you love for the One you love.
1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)- “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” Whatever your God-given gift, use it to help others and introduce the light of Christ into their lives. Don’t underestimate the greatness of the gift you have been given. You may have been blessed with wisdom, singing, writing, dancing, or the ability to solve complex mathematical formulas. All these things come from God and can be used for His glory when you excel at them.
Ephesians 2:10 (NKJV)- “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” God did not give us certain strengths and abilities so that we could keep them to ourselves. Whenever we show off what God has given us for His glory, it is a form of praise! Display His handiwork, for we were created to make His praise glorious.
Don’t hide your gifts, nor put them on display for your own gain. But show up and show out for the glory of the One who gifted you.
