Tyler Perry raves about new faith-based film ‘Miracles from Heaven’, says ‘You have to see it’

Media mogul Tyler Perry is singing the praises of Sony’s faith-based film, Miracles From Heaven.

“I'm sitting here STUNNED!!! I can't believe how moved I was by Miracles from Heaven!!! Lord!! You have to see it!,” wrote the 34th Street CEO on Facebook.

The inspirational saga was well-received at the box office, debuting at #3, with a $15 million weekend opening. It began showing in theaters Wednesday, March 16 and had grossed nearly $20 million as of March 21, according to Box Office Mojo, already surpassing its $13 million production budget.

“All I can say is WOW! What a great family movie. So powerful,” said the 46-year-old who is still celebrating the airing of the successful live musical “The Passion,” which he hosted on Fox on Palm Sunday.

Perry isn’t the only one with great things to say about Miracles from Heaven. The Christian-themed flick also received a rare “A+” CinemaScore from moviegoers and is generating solid word-of-mouth buzz.

Entertainment insiders say it beat projections from analysts and distributor Sony Pictures, thanks to an effective campaign run by marketing chief Josh Greenstein and his team, aimed at church groups, Hispanics and African-Americans.

Miracles from Heaven, based on the best-selling book by Christy Beam, tells the true story of a little girl who faces an extraordinary, life-threatening disease and I miraculously healed following a freak accident and near-death experience.

One afternoon, while playing outdoors, Annabel reportedly fell inside a hollowed-out cottonwood tree—30 feet, head first—and survived without a scratch. While unconscious, she experienced heaven and was subsequently cured, no longer needing her feeding tubes and colostomy bags.

The film aslo received  a strong 4 out of 5 stars from Faith Driven Consumer.

“See it if you haven't,” said Perry. “We need these kind of movies. Especially today!!”
