Her show pulled in high ratings for a local station, but after the demands of radio and ministry became overwhelming, a ministry leader and entrepreneur had to let something go.

Share It is a sad day for fans of a Buffalo gospel radio station. One of its top-rated, award-winning DJs, Dianna Hobbs, has resigned.

Affectionately known by MIX 1080-AM WUFO listeners as “Sunny D,” her resignation comes just weeks shy of her 4-year anniversary.

“The demands of Dianna’s growing ministry have made it impossible for her to fulfill the duties of radio, which, in addition to a Monday-Friday air shift, includes special meetings and promotional appearances,” said Amy Bertinelli, Hobbs’ publicist, who confirmed the news.

Listeners flocked daily to hear Hobbs share encouragement in her warm, personal style. The highlight of the hour was the “Daily Cup of Inspiration,” extracted from Hobbs’ blog of the same name, which was recently listed as one of America’s Top 100 blogs for women of faith by Women’s Bible Café.

“She will be sorely missed,” added Bertinelli, who notes that Hobbs attracted many new listeners with her fresh approach to radio. “But after prayer and consultation with her executive ministry team, it was determined that Dianna needed to give up her radio duties in order to continue to minister to supporters globally.”

Her last day on air was Thursday, Jan. 22.

Hobbs, the founder of Empowering Everyday Women Ministries, also sits at the helm of EEW Magazine, one of the premier web publications for women of faith and color.

Hobbs’ family was recently honored by Buffalo’s Mayor Byron W. Brown for being a beacon of light in the community and inspiring others through their positive example.
