Woman whose emotional pregnancy announcement video went viral says ‘It shows that God is able to do any and all things’
(EEW MAGAZINE NEWS) Dana Griffin-Graves is giving God all the glory for the unexpected baby she's carrying.
Now that the emotional YouTube video titled “Buns in the Oven” has nearly 2 million views since it was uploaded on September 25, 2015, this couple's testimony of faith is being talked about around the world.
“It shows that God is able to do any and all things and so I’m grateful and I said if it can help someone else and give them hope that it can happen, then you know that’s what it’s about,” Dana said in an interview with WRIC News in Virginia.
Here's the back story.
For nearly 17 years, Dana and her spouse Arkell Graves have unsuccessfully tried to have a child. After four miscarriages and one stillborn baby at six months, the couple felt their dream of becoming parents would never come true.
But Dana got the shock of her life when she recently went to the doctor and learned she was 19 weeks pregnant with a boy.
The ecstatic expectant mom decided to creatively surprise her husband with the news and secretly record his reaction.
In the now viral video, Dana can be heard telling him something is in the oven. When Arkell opens it and discovers a loaf of buns and sonogram pictures on the oven rack, his response is classic.
The stunned look on his face was followed by an outburst. "You’re pregnant! You’re pregnant!" he said and then broke down.
“His reaction was just priceless,” Dana Griffin-Graves said of her husband Arkell Graves’ tearful response. “I wasn’t expecting that at all. I knew that he would probably be emotional but I definitely was not expecting the reaction I received.”
“I’ve never been that excited before in my life and I mean not mainly for myself, for her,” Arkell told WRIC.
“It was definitely a struggle. A roller coaster with emotions going back and forth,” Dana said. “I got to the point where I was like you know what, I want to stop trying.”
Well, the baby they didn’t try for is due on February 16.
