Hypocritical? Niecy Nash Flaunts Major Cleavage After Church Interview Condemning Skin Baring

Christian actresses have got to do better. First, Meagan Good, now Niecy Nash. The TV Land’s “Soul Man” star showed up to HBO’s  Annual Primetime Emmy Awards Post Award Reception in LA on September 22, with a daring, cleavage-baring outfit.

Some are accusing her of hypocrisy in light of an interview with One Church International pastor, Touré Roberts, earlier this year, during which, Nash scolded the young women for showing too much flesh on the Internet.

When God’s hand is on your life, the former first lady said, “There’s some stuff that you just flat out can’t do, not if you’re going to prosper, because it’ll make your witness a lie.”

Matthew 7:5 NIV seems fitting: "You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." Pointing fingers at others, while doing the same thing, is wrong.

Nash continued, “[I’m going to tell you] the truth in love. I follow the people from One Church on Twitter and I’m just gone tell you, y’all got Scripture, y’all are motivational, but sometimes, you miss the message when your profile pic is a bikini the size of a Band-Aid. You miss it. I mean, I’m just saying.”

But just saying something like that automatically places a target on her head and creates an expectation that the actress, who said she gave her life to God at 11 years old, will take her own advice and lead by example.

Preacher’s wife Meagan Good also came under fire for a plunging blue dress worn to the 2013 BET Awards, where the actress presented the award for Best Gospel Album (Credit: GETTY)

Nash, who talked to One Church extensively about being a representative for Christ in a secular entertainment industry went on to say, “Sometimes, you have to know what your end goal is and [think about] if you’re bringing people to Him, what the best way is to do that.”

The insinuation was that flaunting one’s body detracts from, not attracts to the message of the gospel.

One of the attendees asked Nash, “With the industry just being so over-sexualized, how do you handle, as a woman of God, your image and also, you know, your character and all that as well?”

She answered, “Here’s the thing about this business. Sometimes, you feel like, ‘God I don’t feel like I should do that, but then, at the same time, it’s artistic. I mean, it is the art. I mean, God made the human body and I mean, I am playing his wife, so, technically…’ you start trying to rationalize and back-peddle and Harlem shake your way out of all this stuff. And the truth of the matter is, is that, because you’re in relationship with Him, He will tell you what that line is.”

It appears that Nash has crossed it with her revealing dress.

WOW. Are these actresses that thirsty for attention that they have to show EVERYTHING? This gets on my nerves!

Thanks for posting this well written article EEW! Me and a few of the sisters for my local church wrote in about this madness. This has got to stop. These women say they represent Christ and holiness and dress whorish and that's not cool. Glad to see the truth being discussed.

Now I want to tell the truth in love: Niecy, I love you. You are funny and have a very vibrant personality. I also believe you have a good heart and mean well. But this is not the way to showcase the best part of you. You are older now and should be wiser. It's time to put all that cleavage away my darling. Your best asset is inside. But as you told the young women, you have to know what YOUR end goal is. If you want them to see Jesus you have to be willing to do everything to make HIS shine brighter than yours.

These Hollywood "Christian" actors and actresses are walking contradictions anyway. How can you be a Christian but yet be involved in an industry that is evil from the core. Who doesn't know that "Hollyweird" is satanic and was designed to corrupt people's minds, which explains why theses actors straddle the fence like they do, they really can't help it! Take for example, Denzel, as much as I love him, professes to be a Christian on the regular, but yet is in movies like Training Day and Flight where there is much cussing, violence, drugs, and lots of nudity. How can one justify that??

OMG! That dress is doing too much. She and Meagan need group therapy. LOL! Seriously though I agree with @Anita. They are a ball of contradictions. Glad to see someone calling them out on it.

@Stacy Green...Headlights..LOL! I am all for high self-esteem/confidence, but this is too much! I like her fun , energtic spirit. She talks sooo much, that she probably forgot that she had even done the interview, when she put on that dress. She was so caught up in trying to get a reaction out of the crowd, that she didn't stop to realize that she doesn't live by example. Smh

September 25, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterTomeka

UMMMMMM......Meagan Good! I really want to support her as a young, Black actress in Hollywood who represents Christ. Sheesh.....that dress though....OMG! And her (excuse my vulgarity) nipples were poking through the dress. I would be so embarrassed stepping like that out in public. Not to mention, she is objectifying herself. There is a way to be sexy, classy, youthful, and still yet, modest. I think the ladies of Mary Mary have mastered this. Where's Goo Goo when you need her? OH GOD!
