MUSIC BUZZ: Tasha Cobbs’ ‘Break Every Chain’ Earns Multiple Dove Award Nominations

Article by Drea Hannigan:: GOSPEL MUSIC

If you find yourself always singing, “Break every chain, break every chain, break every chain,” you are not alone. These days, the melody from Motown Gospel recording artist Tasha Cobbs seems to be in everybody’s hearts and on their lips too.

It is not surprising that what has become a ubiquitous yolk-breaking church anthem has earned the songstress five GMA Dove Awards.

Nominations include New Artist of the Year, Gospel Performance of the Year, Contemporary Gospel/Urban Song of the Year, and Contemporary Gospel/Urban Album of the Year (Grace).

“Break Every Chain” was also nominated for Song of the Year for its songwriter Will Reagan.

Cobbs is also scheduled to perform on the 44th Annual GMA Dove Awards, scheduled to take place on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Allen Arena on the campus of Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN.

While Cobbs’ entire Top 5 Billboard album, “Grace,” has received much acclaim, it is the Reagan penned song Break Every Chain sung by the gifted vocalist and produced by multi award-winning Gospel artist Vashawn Mitchell, that has captured the fascination of worshipers across the nation.

It has become somewhat of a soundtrack for deliverance and is a mainstay on Billboard Gospel charts since its February 5 release.

Cobbs’ “Break Every Chain” was #1 on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart for seven consecutive weeks. The lyric video for “Break Every Chain” has over two million VeVo views and counting.
