Blame Game: Juanita Bynum Says Holly Carter Responsible for Shady Business Deal

By Shayla Wallace:: EEW Magazine News

Juanita Bynum blames Holly Carter, CEO of Releve’ Entertainment for shady business deal that landed her in “I can no longer allow these individuals, or any one else, to attack my character with impunity!” wrote Juanita Bynum in a recent statement addressing her embarrassing April 18 arrest for flaking out on a business deal.

According to the Georgia preacher, who has received a great deal of negative press over the past several years, she was left holding the bag and “wrongfully detained” for something that wasn’t her fault.

“I will assert claims against Ms. Holly Carter and Releve’ Entertainment, Los Angeles California, for, at the very least, ‘Breach of Fiduciary Duty’ and ‘Unjust Enrichment’ due to the fraudulent nature of her ‘representation’ of me during this business transaction,” wrote Bynum in her official media statement posted on www.juanitabynum.com April 24, 2013.

A fiduciary duty is an obligation to act in the best interest of another party.

In such a relationship, the representative—whether a corporate board member acting on behalf of a shareholder or an attorney handling a client’s case—is expected to exercise discretion and expertise to create favorable outcomes for a client.

Bynum is now pointing the finger at Carter, whom she said failed to fulfill her role in a way that led to court battles and lockup.

Further, the accusation of unjust enrichment suggests that the representing party, in some way, unjustly or by chance, was enriched at the expense of the other.

Such claims made by Bynum are intended to cast a shadow of doubt over the integrity of the representing party.

But Carter, CEO of Releve’ Entertainment—a California-based management and production company for family and faith-based projects— smacks down Bynum’s claims in a statement of her own, calling them unfounded.

"I am deeply saddened by Ms. Bynum's baseless accusations, which are not only false but also slanderous,” Carter told the Christian Post.

Aside from working with Bynum, she has handled projects for Mary mary, Deitrick Haddon, Donnie McClurkin, and Kierra Sheard, and a host of other individuals and corporations.

Although Carter denies any wrongdoing and condemns what she characterizes as a libelous attack, the talent manager has not committed to taking any legal action against Bynum, but rather, says, “I will continue to keep her in prayer.”

This is not the first time Bynum has landed in legal hot water.

In 2010, she was tied up in a copyright lawsuit over the Music World release of her single, Soul Cry (Oh, oh, oh). Though Bynum said in interviews that God gave her the melody, birthed out of her pain, former Def Jam Vice President of A&R, J.E. Jones, accused Bynum of stealing the song he said was actually written and produced by him.

Though the details of the televangelist’s allegations against Carter are sketchy, for now, the matter between Al Wash, CEO of ALW Entertainment and Bynum, seems to have ended on a peaceful note.

In an email statement, Walsh wrote, “It was a misunderstanding of information; Dr. Bynum is a spectacular person and we are looking forward to doing great business together in the future.”

He continued, “I never meant for this to do her or her ministry any harm. I am here to help people build their career not destroy their career and I will always believe in Dr. Bynum.”

I would like to begin my response by offering a sincere apology for my delay of response due to the process of completing my consultation with my attorney. My statement is as follows: Please allow me the opportunity to address the unfortunate event that I was subjected to on Thursday, April 18, 2013 in Dallas, Texas. Until recently, it was my understanding that a resolution had been reached involving a business disputed between Mr. Al Walsh, of ALW Entertainment and myself.

I was wrongfully detained, by the Dallas Texas Sheriff’s Dept. for failing to appear in court several months ago, for a civil court appearance, of which I knew nothing, involving the prior mentioned business dispute. I was later released after a brief court hearing on the matter. I have not been found guilty of any fraudulent, unethical nor non-integral behavior. Please see the attached apology from Mr. Al Walsh of ALW Entertainment that was sent to me the day of my release, April 19, 2013 at 7:18pm.

After showing due diligence, by paying Mr. Walsh $25,000.00, prior to April 18, 2013, Mr. Walsh and I came to an impasse concerning who would be responsible for the total amount owed. At the time, I was a client of Releve’ Entertainment owned by Ms. Holly Carter.

I will assert claims against Ms. Holly Carter and Releve’ Entertainment, Los Angeles California, for, at the very least, “Breach of Fiduciary Duty” and “Unjust Enrichment” due to the fraudulent nature of her “representation” of me during this business transaction.

As a Goodwill Ambassador for Bayelsa State Nigeria, I can no longer allow these individuals, or any one else, to attack my character with impunity!

Thank you for your prayers and support.

Sincerely,

Ambassador Dr. Juanita Bynum
