Fans ‘Shocked’ after Deitrick Haddon Reveals Baby Girl ‘Angel Destin Monet’ & New Fiancée

Article by Bethany Harris/EEW Magazine News Staff

Deitrick Hadon poses for a Christmas picture with fiancée and mother of their daughter, Angel Destin Monet Gospel recording artist, screenwriter, and actor Deitrick Haddon has a strong contingent of loyal fans, many of which were left reeling after news hit last year that he and his wife of 15 years, Damita, had quietly divorced.

Now, many supporters are struggling to process the most recent news that he has fathered a baby girl with an unidentified woman he is currently engaged to marry.

With reactions ranging from shock, disdain, and encouragement, EEW Magazine’s editors have sifted through wide-ranging responses from readers, with a vast majority expressing disbelief and dismay.

Most were made aware of the explosive news as it popped up on their Twitter timelines and Facebook feeds, after Haddon, as is his custom, used his social networking sites as personal journals.

Thus far, it is confirmed that his new fiancée is a twenty-something Los Angeles woman who is also the mother of Haddon’s daughter, Angel Destin Monet.

For those who are receiving this news for the first time, EEW Magazine has posted the original message revealing Haddon’s new family below, just as it appeared on his social networking sites:

I said a few days ago that i could write a best seller on 2012 alone & i think i will!!! 2012 wasn't the worst year of my life because 2011 beat it out hands down. In 2012 i began to see God move in my world like i've never seen in my entire life... I can say 2012 was the most challenging year @ the same time the greatest year of my life because in the midst of all the darkness & depression that seemed to have no end God sent an angel to give me hope in the form of my baby girl..

YEs she was born out of wedlock which is absolutely wrong for a man in my shoes....but i must say that If it wasn't for that child & her mother the negative headlines about Deitrick Haddon would have been more devastating than anything!!! The enemies agenda in 2012 wasn't to give me a bad name but he wanted to take me out.

That's when i realized if the enemy is trying this hard to stop me God has something serious that he wants me to accomplish; so i fought hard physically & spiritually!!! God has delivered me in many ways this year..

He walked me through the storm, chastised me but never once judged me, but instead he forgave me,restored me & somehow gave me the strength to continue to sing his gospel when i said i wouldn't do it because i felt unworthy! My new year's focus is to leave all the negative energy behind, own my mistakes, but do not allow it to hinder my future!!! By doing so I will stay true to the call on my life but do it with more fire, passion, humility & love than i've ever done it before.

In addition, be the best father to my beautiful daughter and be the great husband i know i can be to my future wife & Give God all Glory! Goodbye 2012 & hello 2013 Leeeeeggggooooo (Disclaimer: This post is not up for discussion and I ask that you keep all negative comments to yourselves.)

This is the last this will ever be addressed because i'm moving 4ward in 2013 in Jesus name!!

At this time, no further details have been disclosed regarding when Haddon plans to wed the mother of his daughter.

We all sin and make mistakes but I don't like the way he just throws news out there with a "get over it" attitude and then tells everybody he refuses to discuss it anymore. Although we all have personal struggles in our private lives when you choose to make them public and you are a public minister of the gospel you ought to humble yourself.

Social networking sites: that's one way to get your news out to a collective group of people all at once huh? Not sure if it's the best way to do it though.

I was one of the ones who wrote in about this and I'm finally happy to see it being talked about here. I think this is sad and it's a mess. I always felt like more was going on here than anyone was talking about and I thnk it is much too soon for him to be getting involved with anyone else. But the baby is already here so...

God bless that child. She is so GORGEOUS!! No matter how they get here, children are a blessing from the Lord and he named her right. She is a little Angel. Look at that face!

I had no idea all this was going on. But hey, he needed to free himself. More power to him.

January 8, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterSharise

Wow. So much going on in the gospel, Christian world, but, at least he is truthful about it. I just hope that one day we as Christians will use the power within us to overcome sin, temptation. It is possible. If we know we aren't strong enough to fight temptation, we should steer clear of relationships, tempting situations. However, God has the ultimate say. I pray Mr. Haddon is truly restored and can continue on, successfully, in his ministry.

This grieves my heart. I can't help but think about all the people who will go astray because of his fall. Mature believers will be ok, but the weak are devastated by news like this. God help your leaders! This is a sad day we live in where we talk about the word but don't walk our talk.

I knew there was much more to the divorce story, than he had a hard time "balancing" his personal life and career... that really is alot to "balance". Give me a break!

When King David wanted a baby, God wouldn't let him have it, by his adultery afair. And the sword never left King David house, he paid a high price for his sins, and his other children paid a price too. Now D. has cause this woman to committe adultery, where is the witness in that, he was suppose to be the example of a christian, NOW! HE WANTS TO MAKE IT RIGHT. When will we, stop letting our flesh fall into temptation, the louder we say we're saved and sold-out for Jesus, the harder the test. Stay focus people! THIS IS WHAT SATAN WANTS

January 8, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMelissa

@Melissa: King David had Bathsheba's husband killed, also. None of it was right in God's eyes. Just like Deitrick's affar isn't. God will chastise him, but He will also forgive him, if he repents sincerely. I really hope we as Christians get & stay on track, to bring GLORY to God and to draw non-Christians to God. It takes a lot for someone to confess their sins, so hopefully, this will draw people, knowing that God loves & forgives. I just would hate for people to get the idea that they can sin anytime (purposely) and just rely on forgiveness & grace to save them, because it doesn't work that way. Sadly, though, that is just the notion I think some are getting (from Christian folk). It is time to do better.

I am glad someone finally posted the story also. It seems like the buddy system was at work and nobody wanted to "offend" D Haddon just like when LeAndria (or whatever her name is from Sunday Best) got pregnant and everybody tip toes around that situation becaause she had made a comment about the church people being critical. Well if the shoe fit WE MUST WEAR IT! We all have sinned and fell short of God's glory but that doesn't make it right and we shouldn't close our eyes and sweep things under the rug all the time. We can hate the sin but love the sinner. I really enjoyed his music and was saddened to share this story with my teenage son. He is is college and has his own struggles as a young man trying to find his way. He was brought up in the church and loves God tremendously. I've learned he has made a few bad choices while in college and he told me he repented and asked God for forgiveness and almost had the same attitude as if to say, I've asked God for forgiveness and basically told me I don't matter. At least that is the way it felt. We do have ACCOUNTABILITY whether we want to face it or not. Yes. We need God's forgiveness and shouldn't allow others to hold things over or heads but if we are wrong we need to own up to it and SIT DOWN for a while instead of continuing on like nothing has happened. I feel sorry for DAMITA. I pray for her strength and returned joy in life. I also pray for Deitrick that he will realize that this not only affects him but other lives that he has touched because of his ministry. People - let's keep our eyes on GOD because MAN will always fail us. Let's pray for our young people especially.

I think this is is a tragedy and a travesty! But if there are no repercussions and these artists and leaders can keep right on ahead selling products, preaching and singing at everybody's church like nothing happened, they will keep acting a fool. I think retribution is necessary for a period. If they won't sit THEMSELVES down I think pastors need to help sit them down (at least for a while). Anything else is out of order.

Whew this is deep and a lot to take in. But that sweet baby girl is beautiful. Praying for his ex Damita
