Super star rapper DMX, who has had more than his fair share of legal trouble and struggles with drug addiction, made a surprising revelation. He has been ordained as a Deacon at a Christian ministry in New York State and is looking forward to delivering his very first sermon soon.
DMX made the stunning announcement during an interview with website Globalgrind.com.
“I read the whole bible. I just been made a deacon at the church I used to go to—Morning Star. I would like my first sermon to be there or in Yonkers.”
Though the controversial celebrity is still grappling with many personal issues, apparently, authority figures at Morning Star in upstate New York believe he is ready to take on a leadership role in the ministry.
DMX, interestingly, muses about what it means to be ready for true transformation and realizes that reading the Bible is not enough.
“The biggest step is not in the studying, reading, but the wanting to change the way you live. Wanting different things for yourself, and making that change because if you still want to drink and smoke, you could read as much as you want, that doesn’t mean you’re ready.”
In 2009, DMX, real name, Earl Simmons said he would pursue preaching in Jersey City, NJ and he also completed a Gospel album prior to his incarceration.
Despite multiple jail stints and highly publicized turmoil in his life, the rapper maintains that he desires to serve the Lord, eventually retire from music, and settle down as a preacher.

I almost just choked on my latte! What?!
This man was just on New York radio cussing up a storm, talking about wanting to beat up famous rapper Drake and seeming to be high as a kite! Who are these leaders that put him in ministry? They need THEIR licensed revoked. That's a shame before God!
Jesus take the wheel!
I saw DMX and his wife on a reality show a few months ago. Like many people I had a negative view of DMX before that show. Don't misunderstand me, his foul language, criminal behavior, and the way he has treated his wife and children are horrible. But, he has such deep rooted issues of abuse and abandonment by his mom, it was truly heartbreaking to watch. None of us have squeaky clean lives (past and present), and we know that GOD can change anybody!! Hallelujah! I pray that his heart, mine and spirit are sincere about this very important step! Peace and blessings to him!
in such agreement with tomeka, i certainly hope he truly understands its a lifestyle, you can't just be one foot in one door, and another foot in the other
I'm not condemning him. Why should I anyway? Everybody started as sinners before meeting Jesus and some moved on into the ministry to preach the word, full time. But he's saying he wants to preach the word yet he doesn't really talk about being convicted and finding Jesus.
I just pray he doesn't end up turning the Bible up-side-down cos that's what people who act this way end up doing...
Well, time will tell... not after a sermon he desires to take but the changes a true Preacher should inevitably make.
