Olympic hurdler, Des Moines native, and track star Lolo Jones, recently made headlines when she shared during an HBO Real Sports interview that she is a 29-year-old virgin, saving herself for marriage. Though some were shocked (Many believe virginity until after nuptials is a thing of the past.) she is revealing that abstinence is rooted in her Christian faith.
According to The Latinos Post, the U.S. Olympian opened up on Twitter regarding her motives behind abstinence when she tweeted the following: "I am a Christian. Saving myself for marriage bc that's what the Bible taught me to do."
It's also what she wants to do for her future spouse.
“It’s just something, a gift that I want to give to my husband,” Jones, who told her Twitter followers about her virginity earlier this year, said during her HBO sit-down interview. “But please, understand, this journey has been hard.”
But it is Jones’ core Christian convictions, not the easiness of remaining abstinent, that have helped her keep her sexual habits in line with God’s word.
“If there’s virgins out there, I’m going to let them know, it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life — harder than training for the Olympics, harder than graduating from college, has been to stay a virgin before marriage.”
That's saying a lot, since Lolo Jones has trained very hard to become one of the world’s fastest women, and a two-time World Champion in the 60-meter hurdles.

Manigold Jones, Center for the New York Jets is currently trying to play matchmaker with Tim Tebow and Lolo Jones, calling it a "match made in heaven."
Both athletes are outspoken Christians and virgins, making them shining examples of how possible it truly is to adhere to biblical standards of sexuality.

Beautiful young lady! Keep holding on Lolo!
God is a keeper! He is able to help us uphold his standards which is why I love the fact that this story is getting out. Praise God!
Great examples for the youth of this generation!
Love this!!! I know what she means when she said that being a virgin is hard, but God is our keeper, sho' ' nuff!!!!
@Zee: Good going...keep it up and be blessed in all that you do.
Staying a virgin until marriage is the hardest thing I've ever done as well. You feel as if you are the only one (and many times you are after a certain age), but you know there is hope and there are other young men and women who are keeping themselves (totally)pure until marriage. It is rewarding in many ways! But I will not be one to lie and say that the walk is pleasant and fun. Sometimes I've had to cry myself to sleep- mainly because of the lonliness (in every possible way).
