Soon-to-be preacher’s wife, Meagan Good’s choice to put on a tawdry burlesque performance for her bachelorette party at Las Vegas's Pussycat Dolls Burlesque Saloon inside Gallery Nightclub at Planet Hollywood over the weekend, ruffled some feathers. Even Christian actress Tia Mowry’s cleavage-baring cover of Vibe Vixen raised eyebrows.
Good, who donned a plunging neckline on the cover of Vibe Vixen in February, maintains that her sexy public image is just that, an image or illusion. Inwardly, she says, she is sold out for Jesus.
But is dressing up like a temptress in conflict with biblical definitions of modesty and virtue, or are some more conservative Christians just a little too uptight?
“Considering she's marrying a preacher, one may think it would be a tamed down affair,” said People Magazine of Good’s burlesque performance, inclusive of a pole dance, at her bachelorette party. She was joined by 20 of her friends and future Mother-In-Law for the “Act Like a Pussycat Doll, Think Like a Man” themed show and says she isn’t too worried about outside opinions.
"I don't think there is anything wrong with being sexy or cheeky or funny," Good told People. "I don't know how some church folk are going to be, but at the end of the day it's between me and God and my husband."
According to an interview in the Las Vegas Sun, her preacher man beau wasn’t quite comfortable with her choice, though he conceded.
“He is not ecstatic about it,” confessed Good, “but it’s a bachelorette party. It’s the last time before I’m a married woman, and he understands that. He wants me to have fun and be happy and do the things that I want to do on my bucket list and not let people’s opinions of what I should and shouldn’t be doing control how we live our lives.”
Being a seductive pussycat doll and flaunting quite a bit of décolletage, while showing off her sexy moves was, according to Meagan Good, all in "good fun." But she maintains that her naughty girl image has nothing to do with her pure heart toward God.
“I’ve always been very spiritual,” Good said in response to the Vegas Sun reporter who asked whether she thought it odd for a Hollywood actress to marry a preacher. “I love God with all my heart. I think sometimes people get a little confused because of characters that I’ve played…”
He burlesque performance, like some of her naughtier Hollywood movie roles, have a segment of the public fully convinced that, no matter what she says, that's who she is in real life.
Christian actress Tia Mowry, however, who recently announced her departure from BET's hit dramedy "The Game," is viewed as more of the good girl type, which is why her daring, cleavage baring Vibe Vixen cover came as a bit of an unwelcome surprise to some fans.
"There is no support in the Bible for immodesty and glorification of the flesh," wrote NY teacher Shirlene Mitchell. "Tia Mowry’s Vibe Vixen cover has rubbed me the wrong way. I have always supported Tia and Tamera since their Sister-Sister days and I was very shocked and disappointed when I saw the sexed up Vibe cover. Those girls are better than that.”
25-year-old LaKeisha Tate from Atlanta, GA, who wrote in about Meagan Good's burlesque performance, shared a slightly different perspective with EEW. “These actresses are just doing what they do in Hollywood,” she said. “The culture is different and their mindset is not the same as a person who grew up outside the spotlight in a traditional church setting. There are a different set of rules.”
What do you think?
Is a sexy image "too hot for Christianity," or is it just a part of the nature of the business for women in the film and entertainment industry--Christian or not?

i used to desire this type of life, girls are sold a bill of goods that are a lie. Satan has lied to her, to make her think this is what is the way to b pleasing to a man.
It is a lie, she was lied to by TV, lied to possibly by parental failure, lied to by some JOKER that told her she needed to act like this. Whoever the JOKER was his REAL name is SATAN, I will pray for this young lady so that the enemy not LIE to her anymore and she be faithful to her future spouse. The TV programs movies and Devil is a liar.
All these men are PAYING for this, so they are MORE at fault because they are called to be the HEAD of the home, i am TIRED of women(even if they are to be blamed) to consistantly getting blamed for some these NASTY MEN WANT TO SEE, GO HOME to your WIVES YOU WHO PARTAKE ARE JUST AS GUILTY DON"T JUDGE HER ALONE..!
if there was no one willing to look upon it the business would go out of business.
Be the JEWEL that you are called to be~
so: re: meagen dont judge her, if she knew better she would do better.
But tia should know better, sorry. So she getz no love, you got a baby and a man and you know that's wrong, no get out of jail free card. #gotojaildonotpassgo
Sorry Megs. It's time to cover up. You're going to be a first lady hun, and that's just what you have to do. The church culture and biblical expectations don't change according to what we want to do.
If I could give her any advice I would say, "When you are in Rome, you do as the Romans do." This is new territory for you, I know. But there have to be some changes whether you're comfortable with that or not. Put the girls away and assume the role of first lady.
Both ladies are gorgeous and talented. But they are also CHRISTIAN and that should be more on display than breasts.
I would like to say that how we live and what we do as Christians do matter. It's a big difference between judging and pointing out what the word says or calling one into character. I agree we must do everything in love and present with love. We have to realize that Christians represent Jesus our selfish purposes should not over shadow that. We are the ones who look at celebrities as people who are the upmost importance. To our heavenly father we are just as important as Megan good or any other celebrity. God holds us all to the same stanard and that's to obey his word. It is pure selfish to think that what you do is your business. I have been redeemed bought with a high price and no professing Christian has the right to love the world more than him. I love you Megan and I pray that you read your word and let his Holy Spirit transform you. If Jesus lives in us we must bear fruit if we love the world more then the question of whether you are really saved should be explored.
Anyone read Hosea? God has a purpose for all relationships! We live in a time when men and women come with a lot of baggage that can't be easily wiped away by human beings because we are so stuck in being religious and not letting God make the call on other folks' lives.
Although I will say that Good has the platform to acknowledge God in a better way, her culture is different from those who are not famous. Since I'm not famous, I do not understand. As a fellow Christian, I can't sit and judge her, because THAT is what is displeasing to God.
Okay, lets just set some things straight.
Who are any of you to judge and bash these ladies? If Jesus had done this, no one would be a Christian. We are to love them no matter what they do, even if they weren't Christians.
Should have Good celebrated in that manner? Probably not, but from the article is sounds like she knew this was a one time thing and even her future husband understood and agreed to it. If anything, I think that shows how strong of a relationship they have, she ASKED him.
So what if Tia showed some cleavage? If she is confident in her body and what God has given her, let her have her confidence. I can't say this for certainty, but I do not feel that she would agree to this photoshoot thinking she was going to "turn on all these guys and have them lust over me." I saw this cover. It's really not that revealing.
Oh and SHAME ON YOU for blaming and shaming Christian women for saying they are the cause of men to lust and fall. Why don't we, instead of shaming women and telling them to cover up because their bodies are recipes for sin and destroying any self confidence they could have, train up our young men to avert their eyes and to keep them on Jesus? Let's work on their relationship with the Father instead of covering up our women and not allowing them to feel confident. It is the same thing when a woman is raped. Her clothes did NOT force that man to rape her. He did. Him alone.
I feel torn about this because I really, really like both of these ladies. Part of me wants to say it's not that serious. The other part of me feels like they should know better being ladies representing God. But hey I guess that has to be between them, God and their men.

......Soo, we're (Christians) are following culture now, and not the word of God?? I'm not trying to be up tight, but the Lord warns us against becoming friends with the world, losing our "saltiness" and we are told to judge those inside the church not the world.
If they're professing Christians then the bible should be their standard not culture and we (other Christians) are called by God to call them out (judge) when they're in sin.
Just sayin...
I hear y'all ladies..but here's my piece- WHY does Ms. Good talk about fulfilling her 'bucket list' and having fun as if marriage is going to be the DEATH of all her fun and dreams?! I don't think she has a realistic and godly view of marriage. Beside, signing that marriage licence will NOT take away the desire to act fleshy... When the urge overtakes her, her husband id going to wnder WHAT he was thinkin going with a Hollywood vixen. Hoochie mama turns into hootchie wife!
For both Tia and Meagan. They are both blessed in their talent, but I think when it come's to your spirit and soul who you are on the inside should reflect on the outside. You can not say inwardly you are all for God and then on the out side fulfill all the lust of your flesh. We are deceiving our selves if we think it is ok to live and do the things the worlds way, and then state that we are all for God. It is not possible Tia and Meagan like all of us must pick a side. (God's way or the Worlds way)
First of all, God is the judge of everything we do, not man. But there are no "other" set of rules. I see people who I've seen or heard profess Christ and do something else. I know they need to work and it's not like they're in an office or some other line of work that people don't see. I saw the movie "Flight" (I realize we're talking about women but there is no separate standard concerning Christ in Hollywood) Denzel Washington is another who has professed Christ as Lord. Then the scene shows up where he's butt naked and cursing up a storm. Even using the Lord's name in vain but again, that's between he and God. Is it a testimony at all? In my opinion? Not at all! But it no longer causes me to stumble as it might a young carnal believer. God commands us to be holy as He is. That is a state of consecration where we set ourselves apart for His service. It's hard to agree or say that screen sexy or profanity on screen can in anyway be construed as holy. I also realize that these actors are playing a role, "that" is okay because as a writer, I write in this same manner because you have to portray real life. And when you're with your friends and they know your heart (for the most part) you can let your hair down a bit. but for the main stream audience, that actor/actress has to examine their own heart. I agree there is nothing wrong with sexy because some women (and men) are just it but how do you portray your sexy?
But we have to realize that as in our own lives sanctification is a process and though many of us have "left" for our destination, none of us has arrived there yet... God has set a standard, in fact "Jesus" is that standard so... again... search your heart
