MAGAZINE BUZZ: Meagan Good Covers VIBE VIXEN, talks Playing Sexy Roles While Maintaining Christian Virtues

EEW Magazine has chosen to censor the cleavage on the cover of VIBE VIXEN as not to offend readers who may deem the exposure of the female anatomy as too much for a Christian website.
She’s a good girl playing bad according to actress Meagan Good who flaunts lots of cleavage on the red hot cover of Vibe Vixen. While she may draw some criticism from Christians who believe that women ought to adorn themselves in modest apparel according to 1 Timothy 2:9, the celibate star who wants a husband who is “sold out to God,” has a different take on playing up the sex kitten inside her.
On Playing Sexy Roles:
I think that, for me, it’s about portraying a character creatively and artistically as an actress. I believe that God has gifted me as an actress and intends for me to use that gift, but He also intends for me to use it to glorify him. So, if I’m playing the most perfect, religious girl then nobody gets anything out of it. It’s like being a Christian and only hanging out in church. When I play a character, I try not to judge her because ultimately it’s about where she ends up and what she learns from the journey, no matter what happens along the journey. Does she become a better person?
Good, who told S2S Magazine she reads the Bible "every single day for the past three-and-a-half years; every day without fail," is determined to continue growing in her faith. "I’m so in love with God right now. I’m focused on being married to God," she said.
On dating guys and avoiding the games that so many women have to put up with, Good told Vibe Vixen, "I really just try to keep God first, so that’s kept me out of a lot of pit holes. There’s nothing that I’ve really done that I regret. I’ve made maybe one mistake that I could [have handled] differently, but that’s pretty good for being 30 years old and I lost my virginity when I was 19, so I feel pretty confident that I’ve done well in my relationships."
What are your thoughts on Christian actresses in sexy, lusty roles?

I think only God knows someone's true intent. If she feels as though she is pleasing God then she should keep doing what she's doing.
I'm happy for her that she has given her heart and soul to Christ. As she grows in her faith I think she will be even more cautious about the kinds of roles she plays and the things she is willing to do.
Thank you EEW for covering up the cleavage. Very tastefully done.
Megan Good is a beautiful young woman. Keep putting God first sister and he will take you higher!
I totally disagree with this mess! If you love God so much and you are so saved it should be reflected in EVERY area of your lifestyle. A magaizne should not need to censor the cleavage. As a Christian woman you ought censor yourself and JUST SAY NO to some things! Ridiculous.
NO WAY! we are not to judge, but that does NOT mean this dress is pleasing to GOD or representative of His will. Sorry TRY AGAIN. If this was MY daughter she would be SNATCHED up in the studio.
PROMPTLY. Since WHEN r we to mimic the world this is the dress that a prostitute will have! NOT a daughter of a KING. Would the KING let his daughter be exposed for the whole world to see, our daughters think this is how to get a man express themselves when REALLY its how to have the DEVIL ravish your innocence and borderlines on pornography #sodontagreewiththismesseither I want someone to take her aside and teach her (and me too)
I agree with MEME!!! This dress is inappropriate!
This is a mess. I hear her heartfelt sincerity coming across but she needs wisdom. No one has pulled her to the side and said "Boo, cover up?" Lord have mercy. That child is nearly naked up front. God is not glorified by that. Sorry
For all that gave responses, do you feel the same way about Christian men in violent, lusty and sexy roles. Denzel was a born again Christian when he did Training Day. I didn't see this kind of response. Are we going back to the woman that was caught in the act of adultery? She wasn't by herself. Just saying, if we do judge , lets not judge according to gender.
@elijahsdad96 I hadn't really thought about it like that. Maybe I need to just pray more.
If her heart is pure towards God and she is seeking to know more of Him, then He will lead her. No one is perfect and the change is gradual. When I look back at my life and the dumb things I did, I can say thank You Lord for grace and mercy, and I grew up in church so imagine someone who is just beginning to come into the truth.
I pray that God will lead her and direct her and that her will and her way will conform to His.
I say let her grow into the person God wants her to be. We often stomp all over people as they grow. None of us knows it all but she is going through her journey on the public stage. I THANK GOD I am not famous because I have made a lot of errors but thank God for grace and mercy that brought me through. Let's not stomp all over the work God is doing in Meagan's life.
I think we as Christians need to really redefine what we think is important to God. Here we have a woman clearly working to give God her heart fully and all we can concentrate on is what she's wearing and the kind of roles she plays. We need to check our hearts.
She's a beautiful young lady. LEt her find her own path and just pray fo rher.
@elijahsdad ABSOLUTELY while everyone does not hold to my convictions Denzel has done inappropriate movies which borderline too! I will not lower the standard b/c i dont think our GOD doesnt either HE will MEET you where you are but He said GO and SIN no more!!!! HE doesnt condemn but HE NEVER said it was ALRIGHT!
so i beg to differ and leading her to believe it is ALRIGHT is lying to her b/c the bible makes no BONES, no whoremonger, or liar..well yawl know the rest. God doesnt change His standards to fit ours!
(if she loved me) my mama would....finish the sentence
@MEME: The snatching your daughter comment was funny. But I'm not sure how that would play out if your daughter was a "woman of a certain age". I can agree that she just needs to grow in wisdom. As she continues in her walk with the Lord, that will grow. If she still has the same mindset(s) in the many years ahead (no growth), then that should be a big concern to her. But honestly, I think that all of us can attest to the fact that early in our walk with Christ we had our ways that we felt were right, but the Lord removed the scales from our eyes. Give it time.
After seeing this article on your site ... I began to wonder ...If her magazine cover/dress was so inappropriate why even show it? The "Censored" sign did nothing more than draw attention to it and come off as a back-handed compliment to this young sister who is obviously still working on some things... as we all are. As a Christian, I agree the dress was a bit much but instead of "spotlighting it" how about we left ths sister up and pray that her own spirtual conviction will cause her to reevaluate the way she chooses to "adorn" her outward appearance. Many of us (myself included) have worn a dress or two that would put that one to shame ... so let's be careful of casting stones.
Also why not use another photo or crop a close up of her face and draw the focus on the content of her interview and her love for God.
But instead the majority of comments are now focused on her "dress"
I work in magazine and website layout and design so I know it can be done. Your subject should be made to look and sound their best and this was a fail.
I think this young lady is slowly but showily getting sucked into the world she stated on an interview she would not get sucked into. What you are seeing is the beginning stages of a Christian leaving God to go into the secular world or a good example of being luke warm. She is fighting spiritually I pray her mom and dad has her lifted in prayer. She is young in life their is still a chance to reach her before Hollywood does.
