Donnie McClurkin Gushes Over Reality TV Star NeNe Leakes on Twitter; Calls Her ‘Beautiful’

By Selita Jacobson:: EEW News & Entertainment

While the Christmas season has many Christian leaders professing their love for Jesus Christ and celebrating His birth, Pastor Donnie McClurkin was professing his love for Real Housewives of Atlanta reality TV star, NeNe Leakes on Twitter.

According to the recording artist and pastor of Perfecting Church, on Christmas Eve, he was alone at “home a little sick and recuperating,” so he got “hooked” on the drama-filled RHOA marathon.

“It was intriguing,” Pastor McClurkin said of the show. He also called Leakes, former stripper turned television star, “beautiful,” noting that he had met her once.

“Aww Thanks Donnie,” responded Leakes, re-tweeting McClurkin’s flattering words to her more than 900,000 followers.

The self-proclaimed “very rich” actress also stars in NBC's new gay comedy "The New Normal," with a basic premise that centers on a homosexual couple who hires a surrogate to have their baby.

Conservative Christian organization, One Million Moms, boycotted the show where Leakes plays Rocky, the fierce assistant of father-to-be Bryan Buckley (Andrew Rannells).

OMM says, “NBC is using public airwaves to continue to subject families to the decay of morals and values, and the sanctity of marriage in attempting to redefine marriage.”

NeNe Leakes, an outspoken, outgoing, and outsized personality, was recently featured on the cover of Ebony’s Annual Power 100 issue bathing in diamonds—a feature that was met with great controversy. Many argued that her negative reality TV persona perpetuates harmful stereotypes about angry, violent black women who are often highlighted in the media.

Known to fuss out, cuss out, or lash out at anyone who gets in her way, Leakes has figured out how to turn her shenanigans into dividends, and convert lots of fans along the way—among them, Pastor Donnie McClurkin.

I love Donnie McClurkin! I hope his one time indulgence will stop right there. RHOA ain't it pastor. lol

NeNe has come up the hard way and I respect her hustle but I can't get with the ugliness portrayed with black women on reality TV. I like the fact that we are seen more in Hollywood but at what cost? I can't do reality TV like that. Sorry. :-/

I wish our leaders would think before they speak on these social networks! Real Housewives?

December 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterPsi

Maybe NeNe will come to Jesus and convert to Christianity.

December 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSharion

I'm gonna buy Pastor Donnie some reading materials or healthy dvds for next time he gets sick. Filling your head and heart with NeNe is not the way sir. Shei s a hot mess.

@Psi: Right!

I am so irritated by this. We need better representation on TV. But we will never get it if we keep tuning in and watching this foolishness and praising it all over the Internet!!! Ugh

December 27, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterPat Daniels

Oh please people...! Donnie McClurkin has the right to watch and compliment whomever he chooses (just as we all do). I am a Christian and I have watched RHOA from day one. I don't always agree with the language or actions of the ladies, including NeNe, but it doesn't make me any less of a Christian, nor does it mean that I have "converted". Some of the language, is not much unlike some of the language many of us have spoken over the years (before salvation), or is it much different from language many of us heard from our sassy aunties and cousins over the holidays...LOL! Since I have watched the show for a while, I have definitley seen a change in Nene's behavior over the pass few seasons (in a good way)! Bottom line, if YOU don't like it, don't watch it! Chill out and stop being so judgmental!

December 27, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterTS

I so agree with TS, although i don't watch RHOA myself, i watched the first season and maybe the 2nd but, got rid of cable for a few years after that, and when i finally got it again, i was so not ready for all the drama that steams from rhoa, basketball wives, and all that other stuff, it was to too much for me but, others said it's entertaining, i tried tuning back in to rhoa, the new season, watched about 3 epsiodes, and just couldn't handle it, but, to each it's own, TS you couldn't be more right, watching that doesn't make you any less of a christian then watching a denzel movie that's filled with violence and cursing, as long as you don't take on the actions.

December 27, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterTiana Renee

TS: I agree 100% with your comments.

December 27, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterClaudine

There are a whole lot of people who love NeNe Leakes. I think she keeps it real and she cracks me up! I have been watching this season and seeing her go IN on Kenya Moore has given me LIFE!! I wouldn't expect Donnie McClurkin to be watching that madness though. LOL! That's unexpected. Doesn't he have a sermon to prepare for or something?

December 28, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterEnid

Some people are too deep with all that. Donnie is a pastor yes, but he's also human. Calm down. I don't care how saved you proclaim to be everyone watches or does things that would seem questionable to others, period. I am saved. I love Jesus. And I also watch RHOA. In your walk with Christ sometimes your convictions will be allyours and yours alone. If you feel convicted watching reality shows or whatever then don't do it...change the channel. Chill with all the judgement. Super Christians kill me. You'll come on here and say "Yeah Donnie or Christians shouldn't watch things like that." But then log off of here, go run to the store and cuss everybody out on the way for cutting you off, going to slow, etc....catch my drift? lol Relax.

December 28, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterCandace P.

I think that Pastor Donnie McClurkin ought to be ashamed of himself! There is no way in the world he should be endorsing this foolishness with NeNe Leakes. No way, no how! Sorry. Call me deep but this is inappropriate!!

December 28, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBethany T.

Pastor Donnie... smh

December 28, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterRita

These are the last days.....pastors, teachers, preachers, pew warmers...If you are not anchored in Jesus you will drift away! Love not the world....There will be ONLY a few that will find everlasting peace....many will succumb to the broad way

December 30, 2012 | Unregistered Commentermildred

I agree with you Mildred the church is getting worldly and the world is getting churchy. we must come out from among them and be separated, Holiness without witch no man shall see the Lord, Holiness means to be pure and set apart.

December 31, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterHoly

this is the conclusion of the whole matter, fear God and keep his commandment this the whole duty of man. Let Christ be ur standard, anyman can falter, when he does so dont judge him, pray for him that he may retrace his steps.

January 1, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterGodwin

Really people, its not that serious. It's only entertainment, yes I've heard it was somewhat thrashy but again it pays RHOA bills. I personally do not care much for the reality shows. So I wouldn't judge anybody for what they watch. Being a christian does not mean you have to be sheltered. The majority of tv is ugly including watching the news but its all about life. So, I say Really.....
