Mary Mary Tops Stellar Award Nominations with 9 Nods; Charles Jenkins and Fellowship Chicago Grab 8

It’s their year. As Gospel duo Mary Mary gears up for the second season of their hit WE tv reality show, the duo is also preparing to collect some trophies to add to their collection. Erica and Tina Campbell are leading this year’s Stellar Award nominations with a total of 9 nods.

The “Go Get It” singers’ nominations include “Song of the Year,” “Contemporary Group/Duo of the Year,” and “Contemporary CD of the Year,” in addition to recognition for the project in the “Producer of the Year,” “Music Video of the Year” and “Recorded Music Packaging of the Year” categories.

Inspired People/EMI Gospel recording artists Charles Jenkins and Fellowship Chicago are on the duo’s heels. They have received eight Stellar Gospel Music Award nominations for their critically-acclaimed #1 debut CD, The Best of Both Worlds, which remained at #1 for three consecutive weeks.

Their nominations include Artist of the Year, Song of the Year (awarded to songwriter), New Artist of the Year, CD of the Year, Choir of the Year, Traditional CD of the Year, Traditional Choir of the Year and Recorded Music Package of the Year.

Jenkins and Fellowship Chicago are scheduled to perform on the 28th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, TN.

“When our team and I put this record together, we were not thinking about awards or charts—just people singing to and about God,” says Jenkins. “It is amazing to be considered a nominee for an honor we were not anticipating, while carrying the torch of the impeccable musical legacy of our founder Rev. Clay Evans, Fellowship, and our city, the gospel capital of the world—Chicago.”  The single remains at #1 in listening audience at gospel radio. “Awesome” is the third best-selling digital gospel song of 2012.
