Le’Andria Johnson Nabs 3 Stellar Award Nominations; Thanks Supporters for ‘Unwavering Support’

EEW Music Editors

After a tough year, filled with harsh criticism for an out-of-wedlock pregnancy, proud new mom and recording artist Le’Andria Johnson, who welcomed a healthy baby boy, Caelington Forrest Walker, just last month, has something else to smile about. The Music World Gospel singer has received three Stellar Gospel Music Award nominations for her debut project, The Awakening of Le’Andria Johnson

The 29 year-old has been nominated for New Artist of the Year, Albertina Walker Female Vocalist of the Year, and Contemporary Female Vocalist of the Year. Le’Andria is scheduled to perform on the 28th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards on Saturday, January 19 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, TN.

“I am honored and blessed to receive three Stellar Award nominations for my debut project,” said Johnson in a statement. “I would like to thank Don Jackson, Erma Gray Davis, Barbara Wilson and the entire Stellar Awards team. I am so grateful to radio and all the announcers, press and retail outlets for their continuous support; as well as my record label and Team Le’Andria. And I would like to give a special shout out to my fans for their unwavering love—especially during this past year! God has been so good to me and my family.”

The twice divorced single mother has a particularly good reason to be appreciative of her ministry supporters she calls “Team Le’Andria.”

As EEW Magazine previously reported, many conservative Christian members of the greater public were critical of Johnson’s decision to continue in ministry after discovering her pregnancy resulted from a sexual relationship outside the confines of marriage.

Johnson herself admitted to being frowned upon and treated as a “leper to most” during her pregnancy ordeal, according to Precious Times Magazine.

But now, the busy mom is working to put the past criticism behind her and embrace the future with a new fervor. She is currently promoting her latest effort, Le'Andria Johnson: The Experience that was released September 18th.

Good for her! It's nice to see her putting her mistakes behind her. We all make them and God forgives us so everybody just let's move on. She is well deserving and one of my favorite Sunday Best singers yet!

@Everyone: I am not making light of Le'Andria's situation. However, next time a woman and/or a man(IN MINISTRY OR LAY MEMBER) has a baby outside of marriage, at your church, make sure they sit down and you show them how to live right as well. I'm talking to the older saints in particular. Let's make it fair across the board. Let's guide our youth in love and teach them the fear of the Lord. He is holy and calls us to be the same. Blessings!

I am in agreement with @NR. NUFF SAID! Let's be fair and balanced people because y'all know its some folks that done had babies with no marriage and was still on the worship team. So Stop!
