On the heels of the successful debut of her contemporary Christian song, “It Ain’t Over,” which landed on Indie Blue MIC Gospel Association’s Top 20 songs chart in October, IndieBuzz Music Recording artist Dianna Hobbs is at it again. The rising indie artist has officially released a brand new single titled SOON in honor of her mother Annie, a breast cancer survivor.
SOON is currently available for download on CD Baby, iTunes, Amazon and all major online retailers.
Listen:
Perhaps, without the urging of her mom Annie who calls SOON her “favorite song,” the melody penned by the gifted singer-songwriter four years ago, would have never seen the light of day.
“Mom has always loved this song and its lyrics have helped her through some pretty hard times, as well as me,” shares Hobbs. “So if this song will in any way lift the spirits of those who are ill, hurting, or going through a hard time the way it has my sweet mother Annie, I’m so happy to be able to share it as a way of ministering to the needs of others.”
Though not originally scheduled for release, Hobbs believes it is fitting that SOON be shared during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, since her mother Annie survived an intense bout with an aggressive and difficult to treat form of breast cancer known as “Triple Negative” (TBNC) in 2011. Triple Negative accounts for only 10-15% of all breast cancers and may be responsible for as many as 10,000 deaths every year in the US alone, with higher instances among African Americans, according to the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation.
While Hobbs, who is set to significantly impact the Christian Contemporary music landscape, rejoices over her mother’s survival, she soberly remembers losing an aunt to breast cancer and sticking closely by a sister-in-law the same age as Hobbs who is a three-time breast cancer survivor.
