Christian Media Mogul Tyler Perry Covers November Issue of Essence Magazine

Tyler Perry covers the November 2012 issue of Essence MagazineChristian media mogul Tyler Perry, who just announced his partnership with Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Network yesterday, is gracing the November 2012 cover of Essence Magazine. In it, Perry shares his thoughts on black women and opens up about his first action role in the new film, Alex Cross.

The man behind the $1 billion-plus Madea franchise is stripping off the dress and getting into some more serious acting.

While Perry is best known as the funny, chain-smoking, pistol-carrying, Bible-butchering, sharp-tongued, yet loveable grandmother, he’s taking a risk by going in a new direction as an onscreen detective.

Perry the police detective and psychologist has to track down Michael "The Butcher" Sullivan (Matthew Fox), a former military officer turned cage-fighting serial killer who makes the case personal for Cross.

The high-impact trailer is below.
