The King of black faith-based comedy films is gearing up for his first ever action role. Looking dapper in a plaid gray suit, the Christian media mogul, Tyler Perry, hit the red carpet for the premiere of Alex Cross last night at Arclight Theater in Hollywood.
Opening Friday, Oct. 19, Perry is prepared to show a totally different side of himself on film.
Recently, he talked to Access Hollywood about the transition and how he felt about tackling this new challenge.
"It wasn't that difficult to step into the role," said Perry, because he, like his character Alex Cross, is very serious. "What was difficult was not having a costume to hide behind. I had to just be exposed."
With no dress, no wig and no outsized outrageous personality, Perry hopes his audience will come out to see him as a savvy, determined detective.
Hollywood Reporter said, "It will be interesting to observe if much of Perry's generally loyal audience turns out to see him in a major change of pace, as well as if nonfans are curious to check him as a potential action hero."
