AUDIO INTERVIEW: Brilliant Producer, Songwriter & Composer Donald Lawrence talks Music, Fashion & God-Inspired Songs

He’s one of the most buzzed about and called upon songwriters, producers, and composers of our time. Gospel luminary Donald Lawrence, whose name is synonymous with choir hits, sat down for a chat EEW Magazine’s President & CEO, Dianna Hobbs.
Lawrence is a member of Living Word Christian Center, a 15,000-member church located in Forest Park, Illinois, where Dr. Bill Winston is Pastor. At the request of his leader, Lawrence lent a helping hand to his local church for the completion of its debut CD titled, "Bill Winston Presents Living Word: Released."
During the course of the converstaion, CEO Dianna Hobbs made it clear that she has been a longtime supporter of Lawrence's ministry, with him noting that the urban media specialist "gets" him. The two discuss the prolific songwriter's ability to incorporate powerful and relevant messages into enjoyable melodies everyone loves to sing.
“When gospel becomes too oversimplified, I think, sometimes, it turns thinking people away," shares Hobbs. "And so, it’s wonderful to see this intellectual, spiritual, biblically-based, sound lyric, in a catchy melody.”
Lawrence, who tells Hobbs that statement captures the core essence of who he is says, God has gifted him to "take something that’s revelatory and weighty and still make it simple enough" for everyone to understand and enjoy.

I love his music. This week, I have been letting God talk to me through his song, "I Am God." Yes, sometimes we all need for him to get us together...lol.
