Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart this week reflects the ever-evolving and eclectic musical palates of today’s gospel listeners. Christian rapper Lecrae sits at #1, Praise & Worship artist Israel & New Breed nabs #2, Traditional gospel artist Tamela Mann, snags #3, and newcomer, Jonathan McReynolds, hits #4.
These days, Christian music lovers are exposed to many different sounds, flavors, and textures because of increased access through the Internet.
Consumer buying patterns are reflective of this, which accounts for the increased diversity we see on Billboard charts.
In 2012, it is becoming commonplace to see rap, housed alongside contemporary praise & worship and traditional gospel.

Loving Tamela Mann right now! So happy for her.
Le'Andria Johnson, Earnest Pugh and Mary Mary!
Hmmm... I'm really into J Moss V4 album. He really did an awesome job with that! I'm loving Charles Jenkins too and Israel Houghton. Great to see gospel music thriving.
I've been playing Lecrae's album like crazy. Even for those who don't necessarily like rap, it's really a great album and has an amazing message. If you're looking for something different give it a chance! You'll like it!
JOHNATHAN MCREYNOLDS IS A MUST HAVE! As soon as I heard the first 2 lines of, No Grey, I immediately (AND I MEAN IT) placed a purchase on Amazon. Please support this young man, his music is fresh and it will bless you!
Jonathan McReynolds is one to watch!! I am in live with I love you and I'm SO digging Tamela Mann. I'm happy for all her success. She's been on the gospel scene a long time, since Kirk Franklin and the Family days in the 90s.
